Business Development Manager
We are looking for an experienced Field Based Business Development Manager on behalf of our client, to cover the South of England.
This is a territory focused sales role for someone who enjoys being out on the road, building strong customer relationships and developing new business.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for their own region, looking after existing customers whilst identifying and converting new opportunities.
About the role
This is a varied B2B field sales position with a strong focus on both account development and new business with trade & commercial customers.
You will be responsible for:
- Managing and growing existing customer accounts
- Developing new business within your territory
- Identifying and following up new opportunities
- Building relationships with new and existing customers
- Visiting customers and developing face to face relationships
- Understanding customer needs and identifying opportunities to grow accounts
- Attending relevant events, exhibitions and roadshows
- Working alongside internal sales and other teams to support customers
- Keeping on top of your sales pipeline and maintaining accurate CRM records
- Planning your own diary, travel and activity across the territory
About you
The role would suit an experienced field sales or business development professional who is comfortable working independently and managing a geographical territory.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience in field sales, business development or account management
- A proven track record of developing customer relationships and winning new business
- Confidence dealing with customers at different levels
- A proactive and commercially minded approach
- Good organisation and time management skills
- The ability to work independently and manage your own diary
- Strong communication and relationship building skills
- Good IT and CRM skills
- A full driving licence
Experience within a technical or B2B sales environment would be beneficial, although relevant field sales experience will also be considered. Occasional travel to the head office in the North East of England may be required.
